About Us

For Lutherans, worship stands at the center of our life of faith. Through God’s word, water, bread and prayer we are nurtured in faith and sent out into the world. We worship each Sunday at 8:30 a.m. followed by coffee & community (fellowship) immediately after completion of the service.
United in Christ Lutheran Church (UIC) was founded in 1984 with the merger of two Morrisonville Lutheran churches: Morrisonville Evangelical Lutheran Church (1891) and Faith (English) Evangelical Lutheran Church (1923). UIC is united in mission of serving God as one in the small community of Morrisonville just north of DeForest and a part of the Village of Windsor.
As a congregation of the ELCA, we, baptized members of the Church of Christ, responding in faith to the call of the Holy Spirit through the Gospel, desiring to unite together to preach the Word, administer the sacraments, and carry out God’s mission. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

What to Expect
While some of the approaches to worship may differ from one ELCA congregation to another, we hold certain things in common. Central to our worship life is the presence of God through word and sacrament. The word proclaimed and the sacraments —both Holy Baptism and Holy Communion — are called the means of grace. We believe that Jesus Christ is present in these means through the power of the Holy Spirit. Sometimes we describe worship as a “gathering around the means of grace.”
There is also a basic pattern for worship among Lutherans. We gather. We encounter God’s word. We share a meal at the Lord’s table. And we are sent into the world. But we do not think about worship so much in terms of what we do. Worship is fundamentally about what God is doing and our response to God’s action. Worship is an encounter with God, who saves us through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Pastoral Transition
After two years, The Rev. Jason Poole-Xiong concluded his call as pastor with United in Christ on June 8, 2025 to pursue a new call in the East-Central Synod of Wisconsin of the ELCA. We are now in a time of transition of pastoral leadership. During this time, Sunday worship is being led by several other ELCA pastors on a rotating basis and pastoral care is being provided by one of the pastors from the other ELCA congregations in the DeForest/Windsor area.
Our Church Council is now working closely with the South-Central Synod of Wisconsin of the ELCA in discerning our next steps as a congregation and ministry. We have several exciting opportunities that we are exploring and are prayerfully considering where God is calling us into the future here at United in Christ. We consider ourselves a “hidden gem” among congregations in the area and are open to the possibilities of sharing our ministry for years to come.
